Rihanna Says She Wants To Be A Rock Star, Says She Starves Herself

Rihanna is fed up with being a role model for her young fans and instead is taking a more honest approach, which has offended some of her fans as she recently admitted that she starved herself for a magazine shoot.

The 23-year-old was shooting a feature for Esquire magazine, and the 'S&M' singer revealed that the only real preparation was to not eat. Facing a backlash from some of her fans, RiRi tweeted what we hope was a joke or an exaggeration for effect: "#RihannaNavy I shot my first cover for Esquire yesterday with Russell James #rockstarshit Not much preparation for that besides wax+starve!!"

In a recently interview with Glamour magazine, RiRi confessed that she was frustrated at having to be a role model.

She said: "I want to set the right example and, at the same time, live my life. I feel like popstars can't be rock stars anymore because they have to be role models, and it takes the fun out of it for us, because we just want to have fun with art."

Rihanna described how on her road to fame, she was forced to adhere to rules set by her record label and management team.

"In the beginning of my career, it was really strict for me. I couldn't wear pink or red lipstick; it was just bizarre. We had a young fan base, and they were trying to keep me fresh, but I just really wanted to be myself. I wanted to be sassy, the attitude, all these things that I am," she said.
